Moab - Hazzard down through Porcupine Rim

Ok so we are not in colorado anymore. We left Durango, taking the southern route around and up to Moab. Nice drive. didnt really do much, went into town to get subway, thats about it. We scheduled a shuttle upto Hazzard County (cue the dukes of hazzard jokes), i think we had to be there at 6:30 am. The shuttle driver was no Lisa, thats all ill say. We left Hazzard, two couples, a local downhiller, and a couple other guys. We ran into one of the couples at the top of the initial climb, think we may have taken a cheesy vacation photo for them, but nice kids. yoda was borrowing my blur but when we started, he found the front shock blown, not good. We switched bikes at the top of the climb, couldn't let my bro experience Hazzard down on 26" tires and a blown shock. It was a bit slow going for me, but not bad, actually got to look around a bit. the single track seemed shorter than when we did it last year, but we were alot fresher this year. Good stuff down to the road. We crossed the paved road and followed the official kokopelli trail, actually a jeep trail for a bit till we ran into the newly legalized upper porcupine single track.

There was incredible views of castle valley all along the trail.

There was ups n downs like this

and more views of castle valley

lower porcupine singletrack, you hit the jeep trail down to the porcupine rim single track. We ran into the same couple a few times n howie got some pictures, hopefully they get in touch with us and we can get them their pics. The jeep road is mostly down hill but has a few ups including the one above. Im still trying to figure out why my bike can do wheelies when yoda rides it but won't do it when i ride it.

The final section is a benchcut downhill along and above the colorado river.

It also included a few techinical sections like yoda demonstrates here. A bit more downhill then some road n bike path back to the waiting truck at Poison Spider. Headed into town to get a little food and alot of iced tea.

  3. Thanks for a great preview of Porcupine. Was in Moab for an inaugural Slickrock ride in August, but I've got sights set on this one for next time!
