Red Fleet Trails - Vernal UT

Our plan was to head north from Vernal a few miles to the Red Fleet Trails, another recommendation by the guys at the bike shop in town. We found the trailhead pretty easily and started our first loop on Jass/Chrome Molly. Classic desert riding, hard pack through red and white rock/sand. There was cactus everywhere so you really need to stay on the trail. Lots of short ups n downs, no sustained climbs.

We went through open sections of sage

and along some small ridges

And where there was a low section that caught more water than the higher stuff, the brush got higher. We also did the Cabin Boy loop, say type of terrain, a little more up n down and one climb/hike up a slickrock face for about a half mile. Definitely cool trails.

From there we headed up to the Flaming Gorge National Recreation area to check that out. Really pretty area but it would have been nice to have been there in the evening with better light.
On to Park City today to do a big ride tomorrow
