Fruita

When we last left the out west adventures, we sent state college scott home and Phoenix scott to Durango to meet up with us later. We left Gunnison heading across 50 through montrose to Fruita where we dropped the trailer then doubled back to pick up yoda at the airport. The weather had been stormy around all day and by the time we grabbed something to eat and got back to the camper, we could see one of the riding areas getting pounded with rain, but the kokopelli was still dry according to the radar but was threatening. We got bikes ready just incase but it started raining a bit. We headed into town to the bike shop for a few things and it continued a light rain. The kokopelli trailhead is just a few miles up the interstate so we decided to go check it out just in case and low n behold, it wasnt raining and in only the way fruita can dry up, it did. We headed over the ridge on the road, did a quick check of the singletrack which was A OK. down to the start of Mary's loop and out towards Horse Thief's Bench.

The clouds broke up a bit and we actually had a bit of evening sun. But it was getting late and the shadows getting long, so we bailed after mary's loop and took the jeep trail back to the truck.
We got up early the next day and with a late checkout secured we headed out to the 18 Road trails.

we missed the turn for Joe's ridge and ended up at Zippity Doo Dah. I probably talked the first big drop up a little too much and yoda bailed but i took the ride down. Of course howie walked it. I even bailed on the second one since the turn is actually on the steep down, you REALLY dont want to slide out on that one, wont kill you but you're really gonna be cut up. Back down to the parking are then up the other side of the road to Chutes n Ladders. As the name implies you are up n down a ton before the ride back across the flat to the parking area.
