Park City - Mid Mountain and Wasatch Crest

We headed west from Vernal about 3 hours to Park City UT, mostly 2 lane road but not a bad drive. We had ridden here a bunch on our Utah trip a couple years ago and it was kind of on the way to Bozeman, so we stopped for a day and re-rode our favorite ride. Somehow the Park City trail map didnt make the trip so we stopped by White Pines to pick one up. We happened to mention our route and the lady we were talking to had never hear of anybody doing a ride like that, not a big surprise, we have come up with plenty of unique routes in the past. This one has us starting down at the Canyons ski resort. We took a slightly different trail up the mountain than before, but still at that great PC grade, all middle chain ring winding up on the Mid Mountain trail. Last time we took the connector across and rode the Wasatch Crest first, this time we did the Mid Mountain first.

Ive recycled a few pics from the previous trip, we were more in ride mode than pic mode since howie had already shot this ride a few times already, but the first pic is new, of desolation lake. The Mid Mountain runs between the crest and PC, running through a couple ski resorts, but still has a reasonable back country feel. Its really cool the way the resorts let the trail run through their property. We headed up where the Powerline trail intersects the mid mountain, upto shadow lake. Not a terrible climb but steeper than the initially stuff. From there we climbed up and around on the shadow lake loop then up a gravel road to Puke Hill, not a long climb but really steep. Thats where we got passed by a girl. We finally topped out at about 9900 feet reaching the amazing single track that is the Wasatch Crest Trail.

Great tread and killer views all the way back to the connector trail. The connector is mostly down hill back to the mid mountain, then down the nicely graded trails to the waiting truck at the Canyons. The way we did it this time was 32.5 miles, something over 4000 feet of climbing but it really didnt feel like that much since most of it was at such a nice grade.
The next day we drove the 8 hours from PC up through West Yellowstone to Bozeman MT. We pick Erik up at the airport at about 5 today so he can join us on the last leg of our tour.
