Corral Draw AKA Frame Break Draw

We were looking for a relatively easy ride as to not kill ourselves before the epic we had planned for the next day. We had heard about Corral Draw and they had run a race on it the previous weekend so we set out to see what it was all about. We parked again at Hermosa Park and headed up to the CT at Hotel Draw. The guide book seemed to indicate that it was mostly all road for the 3 miles to Corral but there was marked Colorado Trail single track going in the opposite direction than we went the day before so thats what we took. Nice track, about 3 miles, some ancient roadbed, some fresh benchcut, all good. We passed a bunch of hikers, mostly older teenagers and by this point I had taken my rightful position at the back on the climb. As we passed, one of the kids asked if I was gonna let that old man beat me, referring to howie and his rather gray beard. We decided that was at least the quote of the week. We found where corral draw headed down, along a benchcut along an open hill side, more cut out for goats than bikes in places. It mellowed considerably as it hit the woods and was a great ride down, occasionally running into small tributaries, generally having a rather steep entry and exit. Apparently yoda's steed took issue with one of these exits and decided it had had enough, cracking where the chainstay meets the dropout on the non-drive side. He limped it down, alittle riding and more walking to where the trail meets the Hermosa creek trail, see the picture above.
At that point its pretty flat and non technical so he duct tapped the thing back together as best he could. The tire was still rubbing pretty good, but at least he could ride. It was a little slow going but we all made it back to the truck.
